Approximately 14% of Boeing 787 is made of titanium.
This technology (US Patent 9,669,464 B1) is an effective way to reduce oxygen content in Ti as well as other reactive metals. Deoxygenation process is developed based on the discovery that hydrogen can destabilize Ti-O solid solutions, enabling Mg to extract more oxygen from Ti-O system to produce extra-low oxygen content in the final product.
